New look 'GHOSTRIDER: Spirit of Vengeance'

Here's an image of the 'new' look Ghostrider for the new flick Spirit of Vengeance. It would be good to see Ghostrider get a good big screen outing but I just don't see it happening I think as far as film goes the character would be more suited to being a 'guest' character in a Blade picture (directed by del Toro) similar to how the Silver Surfer was used in that terrible Fantastic Four movie (although the Surfer himself was pretty cool in it).

Doctor Who series 6 part 2 Trailer

Here's the trailer for the second half of series 6 and click here for a run down of what the cast and crew had to say at this years San Diego Comic-Con

Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson

Here's the first image of Judge Anderson from the new Judge Dredd flick and a couple more featuring some random Judges (Judge Lex doesn't ring any bells from the comic strips) and another of Dredd himself that will apear in the next issue of Empire Magazine. The good news with these pic the helmets don't look as cumbersome and I like the look of the Judges armour being all chewed up, can-you-DIG-IT!
Here's an article.

AVENGERS CHARACTER POSTERS UPDATED

Here are the individual character posters for the Avengers (which feature what I think is the first image of Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk) and going on these alone it looks like this flick is shaping up to be the one thing I wanted it to be 'super heroes being super heroic'.

STAR WARS BLU-RAY.......WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN.

With the imminent release of the Star Wars flicks on Blu-Ray I urge you NOT to buy them, seriously is it worth lining Lucas's wallet one more time for movies you've already bought 2 or 3 times before for the sake of deleted scenes and 'extras' you can easily watch on You Tube.

I loved Star Wars when I was growing up and still get a kick out of watchin' Star Wars, Empire and Jedi but after the prequels and the endless milking with special editions (with ridiculous added CGI)  over merchandising, ,cartoons etc etc etc etc etc etc..... it's time to say enough is enough. And remember kids no matter what the ''official'' line is and no matter what George Lucas would rather you'd believe, Han 'ALWAYS' shoots first.

AVENGERS CHARACTER POSTERS

Here are the individual character posters for the Avengers flick (although as you can tell by the banner image the Hulk and Thor have still to be released). Apart from Iron-Man the costumes are more in line with the Ultimate comics version rather than the classic Marvel but I'd put money on an Ultimate Iron-Man suit appearing at some point. The use of the Ultimate costumes doesn't really come as a great shock when you consider Sam Jackson was cast as Nick Fury (who the Ultimate Nick Fury was modeled on) and although they're not every bodies cup o tea I dig them and think they look great. (if you've seen the post credits  Captain America 'Avengers trailer' you'll know that Thor also sports a more Ultimate's looking costume.)
I really dig how they have designed Cap's mask and it makes me wonder why it took so long for the Batman movies to figure out how to give him a costume in which he could move his head.

I like the Hawkeye costume (especially the SHEILD badge) but it would have been cool to see him wear some sort of mask.

And if the wait is just to much for you check out the Ultimate Avengers animated movie.

Not so Amazing Spider-Man trailer

Here's the first trailer for the Spider-Man reboot and as I suspected from the moment it was announced it looks pretty pointless (it looks identical to the Sam Raimi flicks minus the fun*) and suffers from the same thing Spider-Man comics have suffered from for over a decade now, trying to make Spider-Man 'dark' and 'gritty' does not work....EVER!

(*it should be noted that as much as I loved the Sam Raimi pictures Spider-Man 3 was from beginning to end a pile of shite.)

My Judge Dredd Homage

Keeping up the 2000 ad theme, here's an illustration I did of Mega City's number 1 law enforcer.

My 'Mean' Angel Homage.

Here's my own homage to 2000 ad's Mean 'Mean Machine' Angel. I know his 'robotic' eye is on the wrong side but.....so whit.

The one thing the new Dredd movie should steal from the old one.

Here is a new image of Karl Urban As Judge Dredd and don't it look sweet. Still very excited about this flick despite some mixed feelings over certain uniform and prop designs (the style of his Law Giver and Law Master, the cumbersome looking helmet). As a side note if I could include one thing from the Stallone effort it would be Mean 'Mean Machine' Angel (Played by Christopher Adamson) which couldn't have been any more on the money.

Confidential File: Horror Comic Books! (1950's anti-comicbook propaganda)

Dig it, this is an episode of Confidential File that aired October 9, 1955. and stokes the fires of anti-comic book propaganda in a way that's creepier than any comic I've ever read. I've only ever seen the sections of this that appeared in the documentary Comicbook Confidential and to see the full ''report'' gives an insight into how much comics where demonized in the same way Rock'n'Roll was and later Video Nasties and computer games would be.

White Zombie - Thunder Kiss '65

The BATMOBILE by HR GIGER

Here are some sketches by Hr Giger for a Batmobile design he did for Batman Forever. I imagine this had more to do with Tim Burton (who was the films producer) than the director Joel Schumacher and was never seriously considered but if you look at the design they eventually used there are Giger-esque elements to it.

MARVEL DOUBLE FEATURES........CAN-YOU-DIG-IT!

It looks as though Marvel Studios could begin working on short films that would feature it's more 'difficult' A-listers and cult B-list characters to play as a double feature along side it's tent pole block busters such as Thor and the up coming Avengers. This would be a cracking idea and would showcase characters such as Ghostrider, Punisher and the Hulk far more effectively than a full length Hollywood flick which follow a formula unsuited to the less 'conventional' superhero. It could also allow creative directors to experiment, break the mold and give the fans what they want, who wouldn't flip out for a 15 minute big screen tease staring the Silver Surfer going up against a true to comics Galactus (not some CGI cloud monster) or Longshot Vs. Mojo set in Mojoworld. In current Marvel movies the end of credit tease and the background cameos have become important elements in making these pictures popular, these shorts would just be expanding the idea and for movie going comic lovers they'd be pure fan-boy gold.

MAD MAX: The FILTH and the FURY ROAD.

MAD MAX, a mixture of Vanishing Point and Clint Eastwood's, 'Man with no name' they embody a celluloid equivalent of punk and a ''no future'' style of film making. Just like punk however after the peak came a disappointing decline, if Mad Max is the Stooges and Road Warrior is the Clash then Thunder Dome is surly Sigue Sigue Sputnik but then who doesn't dig a bit of Love Missile F1-11 now and then.
A forth film (Fury Road) is planned with Tom Hardy playing Max which I don't have high hopes for even though George Miller will be directing the idea of a sequel almost 30 years after the last installment (33 since the original) reeks.
A 4th Mad Max is akin to your favorite band reforming for an all seater arena tour as excited as you may be about it, it'll never be as good as when you crowd surfed at their gig in the Barrowland all those years ago.
